World of Warcraft: Aberrus Bosses – A Fan’s Interesting Find
Neltharion has been an antagonist in World of Warcraft since the original game, and there may be a hint that he’ll stay relevant due to something found in the Aberrus raid. He is also nicknamed Deathwing because of his titanic dragon form that was so important during the Cataclysm expansion, but it seems players haven’t seen the last of this powerful enemy based on the Dragonflight raid and its accompanying hints.
In November 2022, Blizzard released World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and with patch 10.1.0, the company also added Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. Since then, experienced players have been putting their effort into completing the second raid. Blizzard continues to support the game with frequent updates that bring new content and address any issues. Raids in World of Warcraft are filled with lore and storytelling elements, so many players have been exploring Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible and its secrets. One fan recently noticed an interesting link between three of the raid bosses.
A well-known World of Warcraft gamer observed a very comic situation with cross-faction guilds: Neutral Pandarens can’t be part of them.
Recently, Reddit user Grubuloid posted a picture that featured the three Aberrus, Neldris, Thadrion, and Rionthus, bosses from the Shadowed Crucible. Noting the resemblance, they combined the first letters of each name to suggest that it may be a reference to the classic World of Warcraft adversary Neltharion. According to Grubuloid, the combination of “Nel,” “Tha,” and “Rion” corresponds to the classic foe.
At Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, players gain a reference to Deathwing, as well as Neltharion’s presence during and between some of the battles. This could be an indication of a future update. Previously, players had defeated Neltharion, once known as Deathwing, during the Dragon Soul raid in World of Warcraft, leaving him weakened as he returned to the Dragon Isles to recuperate and form an army to combat players at Aberrus. Consistent with other World of Warcraft raids, the conclusion of Aberrus shows a cliffhanger cinematic with Sarkareth uttering some final words before he succumbs in the last chamber of the fortress.
Speculations on Deathwing’s role in the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion have been rife, as it is a game centered on dragons. Despite Neltharion’s minor part in the game prior to Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, it could be speculated that his inclusion in the raid is laying the groundwork for future content involving the iconic dragon character.
World of Warcraft can currently be played on a PC.
